Robert Barker, President of the Bob Barker Company, a significant family owned company in Fuqua Varina that has used the RTC-NACD multiple times to build and develop its board. Robert led the company's acquisition of one of its largest competitors, with significant leverage and expertise added to the process by his outside directors who were among the first outside directors added to the company's board.
Rich Franco, who has over 40 years of experience as a Director, in public, private and non-profit companies. He is Former Director, Salix Pharmaceuticals and Dara BioSciences and currently Chairman and co-founder of Velosal Medical, an early stage medical device company and a Director, Research Triangle Chapter, NACD; Rich was a member of Glaxo's executive committee before going on to be a founder of several other startup healthcare companies.
Deborah Hylton, President and CEO, Thrive 4-7, a healthcare technology company. Deborah is the former Chair, Wells Enterprises, a $1B family owned ice cream manufacturer, where she was the first non-family director and Board Chair of this 95 year old company. Instrumental in enhancing the composition and contribution of the Board from 2008-2014 and leading a cultural transformation towards management accountability and effective partnering with the Board to drive growth.
Christy Shaffer, General Partner, Hatteras Venture Partners. Christy serves on the boards of 7 companies currently, chairing 4 of the Hatteras portfolio company boards and sitting as a Director on 2 others. She is also a Director for Clearside Biomedical,Inc [NASDAQ:CLSD]. She has also been active on non-profit boards for many years. Prior to joining Hatteras, Christy was the President and CEO of Inspire Pharmaceuticals during its rapid growth and development and IPO in 2000.
Mark Zorko, Principal, Brentwood Advisory, will moderate. Mark chairs the Nom/Gov Committee for MFRI [NASDAQ:MFRI] a global manufacturing firm, chairs the Audit Committee for Westell Technologies [NASDAQ:WSTL] a telecommunications equipment firm and was a Director with the Alexian Brothers Health System. He has been a public company CFO for two rapid growth companies in the medical device and energy industries and holds an NACD Board Leadership Fellow certification. At Brentwood, he consults with corporate boards across a range of disciplines.
